sQuba Underwater Car

An underwater car, based on a James Bond film, has been unveiled in Switzerland. The amphibious two-seater has been made from a Lotus Elise, with three electric motors replacing the petrol engine—one powers the back wheels, while the other two work the specially designed propellers. Top speed is 75mph on land, 4mph on water and 2mph below the surface. The zero-emission vehicle is powered by rechargeable li-ion batteries, dives to 10 meters and can stay underwater for up to two hours. Costing almost $1.5 million to build.

How Do You Play Soccer If You Live On A Floating Village?

A true story that took place on a floating village in Thailand.   Whatever challenges you face in life, if you think you can make a difference you can.
TMB (Thai Military Bank) have launched a new film to inspire people to start thinking differently - with a hope that they will start to Make the difference to their own world. It doesn't have to be big, but a little can create positive changes.    The film is based on a true story. In 1986 a football team that lived on a little island in the south of Thailand called "Koh Panyee". It's a floating village in the middle of the sea that has not an inch of soil. The kids here loved to watch football but had nowhere to play or practice. But they didn't let that stop them. They challenged the norm and have become a great inspiration for new generations on the island.

Propeller Driven Car (1932)

A one-of-a-kind French automobile, the 1932 Helicron, was discovered in 2000 in a barn, where it was placed by its owners in the late 1930s. It is driven by a propeller bolted directly to a 4 cylinder air-cooled engine. This Helicron passed the French safety inspection in 2000 and is approved for use on the roads. When the propeller is spinning at full rpm, the 1,000-pound boat-tailed car can hit freeway speeds of 75 mph.
This is the only Helicron in existence. The car can be seen at the Lane Motor Museum in Nashville, Tennessee.

Solar Powered Airplane

With the wingspan of a Boeing 747 and the weight of a car, never before has an airplane as large and light as the 'Solar Impulse' flown before
Solar Impulse' has taken to the air for the first time in the skies over Payerne, Switzerland. Piloted by Markus Scherdel, the completely solar powered craft reached an altitude of 1,200 meters and executed maneuvers designed to test control systems and verify behavior against flight simulator calculations. The aircraft was in the air for 87-minutes before landing safely to the cheers of the 'Solar Impulse' team. It lifted off at a speed no faster than 45 kmh (28 mph) and, once airborne, completed a series of turns by gently tilting its wings that measure 63 meters (208 feet) from tip to tip. The maiden flight under solar power is another step on a long journey that will hopefully see it fly around the world non-stop in 2012

Bob Arno - Europe's Prince of Thieves

Bob Arno steals watches, pens, belts, suspenders, underwear. Even shirts! Funny and awesome!Unlike most other performers in the small, specialized field of pickpocket entertainment, Arno does not present magical effects for their own sake. He does incorporate principles of magic in much the same manner that criminals, con artists, and other street thieves do. And, given that his show is comedy, he is not above preparing a volunteer on occasion to enhance his humorous finale. He has perfected the art to include neckties, suspenders, glasses, belts, cell phones, wallets, as well as watches. He is co-author of the book Travel Advisory: How to Avoid Thefts, Cons, and Street Scams.

X-Hawk Flying Car

The X-Hawk Flying Car, a revolutionary, FAA certifiable urban aerial aircraft, is being developed by Urban Aeronautics of Tel Aviv, Israel. It is an aircraft that has the VTOL (Vertical-Take-Off and Landing) capability of a helicopter, but without the exposed rotors that make it dangerous or impossible for helicopters to maneuver in complex urban and natural environments.
The first prototype should be ready in 2009. The Flying Car is configured as a tandem-fan, turbine powered vehicle. The pilot will use a "fly-by-wire" multi-channel flight control system as well as an automatic stabilization feature to help control the aircraft and maintain level flight. The ducted fan design allows the car to achieve the speed and maneuverability of a helicopter: 155 mph, 12,000-foot altitude and two hours of flight time.

Note: The car is going so fast because Google specifically programmed it to do drive aggressively for this demo on a closed course. Normally, it wouldn’t be making all those squeals and cornering so hard.     More info: New York Times   Autonomous Driving   Google Blog
